Dresden Kreuzchor scouting new talent

The Dresden Kreuzchor’s New Talent Day on March 12th

In its 800th anniversary year, the Dresden Kreuzchor is inviting interested singers and their families to New Talent Day on Saturday, March 12th in Dresden-Striesen. Between 1 and 3pm, we are open to any questions about primary school education, boarding house accommodation, music lessons and rehearsals. Right next to the secondary school (Evangelisches Kreuzgymnasium), you can visit the rehearsal and boarding house rooms as well as all rooms which the choristers use to prepare for their daily work and to relax. A typical choristers’ lunch will be served in the refectory, and naturally all employees will be open to questions about education in the Dresden Kreuzchor.

“Parents will often ask themselves whether their child is mature enough to live in a boarding school with other boys and manage the large workload of rehearsals and concerts. Through the ages, for over 800 years, this daily routine has worked,” says Dorit Keucher, talent scout at the Dresden Kreuzchor. “Membership in the Dresden Kreuzchor opens up an extraordinary course of education for the singers and has an extremely formative influence on them. It’s wonderful to experience the boys being so enthusiastic about singing in such a famous choir.”

Access will be at the rear entrance of the Evangelisches Kreuzgymnasium in Ermelstrasse 1. Admission is free. At 5pm, the Dresden Kreuzchor will sing this month’s first Kreuzchor vesper under the direction of Kreuzkantor Roderich Kreile in the Kreuzkirche.
